Samantha McDaniel-Ogletree, smcdaniel@myjournalcourier.com Published 4:07 am CDT, Tuesday, September 24, 2019 City OKs marijuana tax, although sales still question PITTSFIELD — Pittsfield City Council has passed a resolution approving the collection of a 3% sales tax on all recreation marijuana sales within city limits — if the council allows cannabis sales come January. “We haven’t decided whether we’lll allow the sale of cannabis in the city limits, but many towns around us allow it, so it’ll be in the community,” Mayor John Hayden said. “This is saying that, if we do allow a distribution center in Pittsfield, we intend to collect the sales tax.” While council members have been attending informational meetings, there have been no final decisions on whether the city will allow cannabis sales, Hayden said.
